He's coming home! The official phone call came on May 9th at 9:14 AM on my cell phone. We are currently waiting the 10 days while everyone is notified, birth mother, orphanage (well they gave the info the next day), agency, etc. So once the 10 days is up Jacob's passport will be applied for and hopefully by the end of the week we will have a travel date. At this point in time we will travel mid to late June, Jared's preference is anytime around the 23rd to meet our son (it is Jared's 29th birthday!) So we will just have to wait and see. I will keep updating the site as we get more information!

Ok the official verdict is in. Here goes, Jacob will be placed in our arms on Tuesday June 20th. We will pick him up at St Lucy's Center in Tainan. We will then take the train back up to Taipei that evening. We will go to AIT on Wednesday the 21st, which happens to be my mom's parents 65th wedding anniversary and Jacob will turn 20-months-old that day, so a good day all around. Then we go back the next day to get the Visa and fly home eitehr that night or the next day. So there it is in a nutshell.  Jacob is finally coming home! Halleluiah and praise the Lord!

Welcome to our little site. Here you can follow my mommy and daddy on their jouney to bring me home to the USA from my birth country of Taiwan. I live in St. Lucy's orphanage in Taiwan where I am well taken care of by the loving ayis (aunties/nannies). I am currently 72 cm tall (about 28 inches tall). I weigh 8.1 kg (17.87 pounds). My head is 42.5 cms around (16.7 inches). I am a little peanut and mommy is very happy that I finally have some hair. I have dark eyes like my mommy's daddy and Grandpa Dan and Great Grandpa Vic and Ray. I have dark hair like mommy's family. I have my daddy's ears, not sure how that one happened, maybe daddy has some explaining to do!

My name is Shih Chieh Huang, I will be known as Jacob Andrew Chieh Collins when I come to my forever family, Lynne and Jared Collins. Mommy and daddy have waited a long time for me. I turned 1-year-old on October 21st and I will come home sometime in June of 2006. Please come and check back on my site to find out what I am up to these days.

What's New? Jacob Andrew Chieh Collins has been officially applied for. And we have orphanage approval!! Our translated home study was sent to St Lucy's Center via e-mail and fax on Monday and on Monday evening they approved us, the . I got an e-mail on Tuesday from Laura saying we have been approved!  We had to sign contracts to go to Taiwan that formally make us his parents, once approved by the courts. We also signed contracts for the Power of Attorney papers for someone to represent us in Taiwan. We are now waiting on our papers in San Francisco at the TECO office to be authenticated and to be sent back to Laura. Well we had a little trouble with TECO, our documents went to Seattle instead. However, that is all straightened out and the authenticated documents arrived in Utah on 11/3/05. Laura had to copy them and sent them on their way in a cute little Fed Ex envelope to Taiwan. They should arrive on Monday. The staff at St. Lucy's will look them over and then file them in the District Court on our behalf. So things slowed down just a tad for a while there but now we are back on track. The judge in the district court will look at all of our papers and decide if we are to be the parents of Jacob. Our case has been in the courts for 25 weeks now. We finally got the call today, March 8th. We will travel sometime in teh next 6 weeks most likely, still waiting on the dates to be confirmed and some final paperwork to get done. Yeah! We are officially parents adn just in time for Mother's Day!

Visit my caringbridge site to see mommy's journal. She is writing all aobut the wait for little old me. Daddy just rolls his eyes when mommy gets out the computer but he is already planning on our fishing trips and how to carry me in that Kelty backpack when he goes hunting! I can't wait to get out in the wide world with Daddy and get covered in dirt! http://caringbridge.org/visit/babycollins.

If you want to help my mommy and daddy bring me home faster you can send donations to their Kingdom Kids account (its tax deductible), go to http://www.kingdomkidsadoption.com/ for more info. I also would love to get hand me down clothes from all my wonderful aunts and uncles and cousins, and everyone else!

In addition to financial help mommy and daddy are collecting and recycling empty inkjet cartriges. The cartridges can pay as much as $5 each and most bring in $1-3. Mommy and daddy will use the money they collect from this venture for their food and hotel bill when we are finally united in Taiwan. It is free for you to send the cartridges in (just contact mommy for the supplies or go to http://accounts.cartridgefundraising.com/website/?jde=1973891 she is also working with www.empties4cash.com) and it helps save our wonderful Earth!

And as is there is not enough to do in the day she is now taking cell phones to sell back for cash. This is through a company called Pace-Butler. Again the supplies to ship them are free, yeah! And they pay for most of the popular phones being used as well as some only a few years old. As fast as they make new phones and better technology phones are quickly outdated. So if you have some lying around and would like to help out contact mommy to find out how to send them in on our behalf to help with the trip expenses!
